Events and What's Happening at CUMC

WINTER NIGHTS, APRIL 8 - APRIL 22

Winter Nights

WINTER NIGHTS NEEDS YOU!

Our week of Winter Nights, April 15 - April 22, will soon be here and there are still lots of blank spots on the signup sheet, especially on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22. Help with meal preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is needed on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. We also need volunteers throughout both those days and evenings just to be present.

During the week there are also openings for coordinators to greet the families, and answer questions, breakfast setup and cleanup if you like to get up early, two people to do laundry on the last day, and a few more people to sleep over would be nice. In order for our Winter Nights week to go smoothly and not overwork anyone, these jobs need to be filled.

all Delores Loague (925-672-6870) to sign up or for more information.

To donate money, simply mark your gift "CUMC" with the notation "Winter Nights" and place in the offering plate. If you are good at crafts or storytelling, please call Delores Loague as it would be good to have some activities for the kids.

CUMC's goal is to make sure these families are safe and well cared for. We can do that if everyone helps.

OUR RUMMAGE SALE IS ON MAY 16, 17, & 18th

It’s time to start gathering up those items that you no longer need and put them in boxes.
At this time we have no storage available but we will let you know when you can bring things to the church. Please hold on to the large items until the week of the sale.

Project LinusPROJECT LINUS MISSION

FIRST—Provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and Afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers”.
SECOND—Provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

Thanks to those at CUMC who have already purchased and donated JoAnn’s Fabric gift cards and saved coupons so we can make the best use of our donated funds; we have already bought 1 ½-2 yard pieces of fleece to prepare for the up-coming Project Linus blanket drive.

We hope to have enough money gathered by mid-March to buy fleece for families participating in Winter Nights this April. There will be an estimated 30 blankets needed children-sized through adults.

You can help by donating NEW fleece (in 1 ½ to 2 yard pieces), JoAnn gift cards for any amount OR money for fleece (please write checks to CUMC with “Project Linus” on the memo line)

Call Mary Spryer, 925-876-3520 if you’d like more information about Project Linus OR email Mary at mspryer@comcast.net, please write PROJECT LINUS in the subject line.

Financial Peace

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY RETURNS TO CUMC !!!!!!!!

After an overwhelming successful debut last fall where 38 members and non-members of CUMC participated in the nine week course designed to develop the necessary skills and habits that lead to achieving financial peace and prosperity.

What could be a more appropriate date to start again, but on Monday, April 15 (Tax Day).
Sessions will start at 7:15pm on successive
Monday nights in Sherrill Hall.

The course runs for approximately two hours per session, with the first hour devoted to watching a training video and the second hour devoted to group discussions. One class highlight is the session where the participants get to cut up no longer necessary credit cards!

In the coming weeks you will be hearing several testimonials from members of our congregation describing how the program has changed their financial lives.

To sign up now, just call Bill Maguire (925.256.4272) or email Bill.
